I am currently a pre-med student at Miami University.  My long-term career goals include becoming a physician and/or possibly working for a non-profit.  My trips with PKF to Haiti have had huge influences on my goals and are one of the main reasons for my career aspirations.  Recently, I have started a yearly trip to the CHIDA Hospital in Cap Haitïen, Haiti through Miami University. Myself, along with several students completed the first trip in January 2018 and cannot say enough about how great the staff and doctors were.  God’s plan for me has been very clear so far, and I’m blessed to be able to see his vision furthered every day.
The experiences and relationships that I’ve had and formed in Haiti have entirely changed the trajectory of my life.
The experiences and relationships that I’ve had and formed in Haiti have entirely changed the trajectory of my life.  Now, as a premedical student at Miami University, I have a different outlook and motivation than so many of my classmates.  Even in my extracurriculars, my focus has shifted in how these things relate to Haiti or similar situations. For example, my time spent doing research focuses on conservation while my architecture minor has a focus on sustainability/construction in third world countries.  I’ve really come to realize how much I’ve been blessed and seen all the opportunities to give back. I’m hoping the relationship started between Miami University and PKF will continue for many years to come, giving back to both the premedical students lucky enough to experience it and the amazing individuals in the CHIDA hospital/Joshua House that I’ve come to know and love.
